Life at Silk in Orange and Team update
By now, everybody pretty much knows the drill of what the Protection Framework means for us in Taranaki living in Orange, but I just wanted to let you know what it means for Silk and give you an update of our team.
Well, we can firstly bring back our comfy reception chairs and our homemade collagen balls for your post facial skin treat. We can offer you water, or a tea or a coffee. We can prep our beds for you again with soft towels, and you know what, you don’t even HAVE to wear a mask once inside. BUT we would appreciate it if you do as you are walking around the Spa. It just makes it a bit easier, and at the end of the day, masks are there to give you that little bit more protection.
You will need to continue to scan in, and from Friday the 3rd we will require to verify your vaccination pass. We’ve been practising with the verification app and it is super easy and fast.
If you have not got a vaccination pass but you do have an appointment, as you are aware, we are not able to look after you in Orange within the Spa. Please could you let us know as soon as you can that you can not make your appointment so we can free up that space. We do have a good online support system with our online skin consultations and our online shop and have plans to make improvements on these as we go along.
There are some major changes going on at Silk regarding the team.
Maia is growing a very much anticipated baby and is planning to be with us until early February. Beauty therapy is not an easy job when heavily pregnant, yet Maia is being her awesome self and carrying on like that bump is not even there. Such a sweet kind therapist with great skills, we will miss Maia once she finishes up to become a Mum but we are hoping to have her back in some kind of capacity later in 2022.
Just yesterday Diana-Leigh joined our team as a junior beauty therapist to help Maia through these next couple of months and then to cover once Maia has gone. Diana-Leigh worked with us at Silk over Christmas last year and we loved her on the team. She was the year two recipient for the Silk Skin Spa Scholarship at WITT, she’s been top student passing with flying colours and has so much potential as a therapist it is so very exciting just to secure Diana-Leigh on our team.
Karyn is still running the ship, not only still looking after all her clients, but managing the spa at the same time. She is one busy lady, yet she never misses a day at Silk. I cannot express in words how grateful I am to have Karyn as my side-kick. Her loyalty to Silk and to myself over the years has been just extraordinary and we would not be where we are today without her. I know her clients feel the same way.
Kim is the queen filler-inner. Cricky where would we be without Kim. Always awesome, always zen and always there when we need her. If you are lucky enough to have experienced a massage (or any treatment for that matter) from Kim then you know what an extraordinary therapist and human she is.
Already it’s been two years since our Beauty Queen Renee joined us. What a therapist she has blossomed into. Her kind and gentle ways along with her attention to detail make her an incredibly gorgeous therapist and wonderful team member. We are so lucky to have Renee as a part of our team.
I’ve left Nikita til last, mainly because I knew (and I was right) I would start crying as soon as I started to write this.
Nikita’s last day with us will be tomorrow. Joining us as a very young therapist that kid has turned into one incredible woman. Always the brave one, I remember quite early on, her running down the hallway challenging some dude who had just snatched a product without even stopping to think about her safety. Nobody can roll their sleeves up and just get the job done better than Nikita and to say she has been a valuable part of the team doesn’t even cover it. Nikita, may I just say publicly, we respect you, we love you and oh man we will miss you.
So what does this mean for you as our clients. Yep, it’s going to be a bit of a messy December. We are already really booked up and it’s going to be hard to fit everybody in, but we are doing our best.
I am going to come back into the treatment rooms and help where I can, I just hope I’m not too rusty. The rest of the team are doing everything they can to ensure you get your treatments and get the emails replied to and phone calls answered. But please bear with us. I am proud of the Silk whanau we have built together and it is going to feel a bit rough for a while. They are all hurting in different ways, but I know how strong my team are, and they will get you sorted. None of us really know how it’s going to be until we are living in Orange next week. Some of our plans will work and some won’t. We will always work with your best interests at heart and I will always protect my team.
I hope living in Orange will be kind to you and you are doing OK. Just like us, I am sure many of you are going through some work and home upheavals that you never thought you’d have to go through, my thoughts are with you, it’s not an easy time for anybody.
Please stop and smell the flowers, be grateful for the small things and remember to look after number one sometimes, it’s amazing how things just seem to work out when you do.
